JOHANNESBURG - The Police Ministry has issued a stern warning to criminals who attack police officers.

Minister, Senzo Mchunu, was speaking on the sidelines of the funeral service of one of the five police officers killed in the line of duty in KwaZulu-Natal this week.

Warrant officer Moses Ndlovu a detective commander from Hammarsdale, the West of Durban, was buried on Saturday.

Having buried four police officers this week alone police top brass say their war against crime has taken an ugly turn.

But Mchunu has this warning for criminals.

“People out we are warning them, don’t attack police officers - don’t attack in whatever manner because if you attack them - you attack the state, and we will mobilise the whole might of the state when we experience things like those.”

He said that officers must take action where necessary.

“We will make sure that there’s a consequence on each of these incidents should they recur - there is no doubt about that, and police don’t have fear and favour for anyone and they must act and protect themselves.”

Fourteen police officials have been murdered in KZN in 2024.
