DURBAN - The police ministry and police top brass will on Saturday attend the funeral of a slain police officer killed in the line of duty last weekend.
Warrant officer Moses Ndlovu and his colleague captain Danasagren Pather were shot and killed while responding to a murder scene in the Cliffdale area west of Durban.
While the captain has been laid to rest, Ndlovu will be laid to rest in Hammarsdale on Saturday.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola is also expected to take to the podium to bid his fallen member a final goodbye.
It's been a devastating week for police in the province as five police officers were killed in the line of duty.
All the victims were shot and killed by suspected criminals during police operations.
This brings the total number of police officers killed to 14 in KZN alone this year.
Early this week KZN Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said some criminals do not want to go down without fighting the police.
“That’s quite a lot of them that we are arresting but there are those few who do not want to go down without a fight unfortunately they lose we lose but we don’t celebrate that," said Mkhwanazi
He added that police have to look out for themselves and each other while out and about.
