Police still hunting for shooters responsible for murder of Lavender Hill teens

CAPE TOWN - Police are continuing their search for those responsible for the murder of two teenagers in Lavender Hill.
Gunmen opened fire in Hilary Drive shortly before 7pm on Tuesday, hitting a 13-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy.

The victims sustained gunshot wounds to the head and legs.
Police said the motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related, as currently, there's conflict between gangs in the area.
Acting Western Cape Police Oversight and Community Safety MEC Tertuis Simmers said: "I want to express my deepest condolences to the families of the two children who were killed. I furthermore call on the community of Lavender Hill to come forward with information on this killing.
"Any member of the public who can assist with information leading to the arrest of the killers must please contact the police and the authorities immediately. The only way to beat this scourge is for everyone to do their part in the fight against gangsterism in the Western Cape."
