JOHANNESBURG - The City of Ekurhuleni has assured repairs have been done on some homes damaged by strong thunderstorms where two people sustained injuries in Tembisa.

More than 20 homes were affected by strong winds including two hostel blocks in the area on Tuesday.

The city's disaster management spokesperson, William Ntladi, said there was no need to provide temporary accommodation for residents, adding that most of the houses suffered minimal damage.

"We managed to assist them with the re-roofing of the structures that were affected, but the rest of the structures had minimal damages so all the families that were affected. We managed to be with them and assist them.”

The city continues to be on high alert as the South African Weather Service issued a level 4 warning for disruptive rain expected to last till midnight.
