Road closures in Cape Town ahead of Proteas vs Pakistan ODI at Newlands Cricket Ground
The South African national men’s cricket team is in The Most Beautiful City in the World for their One-Day International (ODI) against Pakistan.
The Proteas will play Pakistan in the second ODI at Newlands Cricket Ground on Thursday, 19 December 2024.
The match forms part of a bilateral three-game ODI series between the two nations.
Pakistan currently leads the series 1-0 following a win at Boland Park in Paarl on Tuesday evening and the Proteas need victory on Thursday to avoid defeat in the series.
Gates open at noon with the first ball bowled at 14:00.
Spectators going to the game can find parking at Groote Schuur High School, Groote Schuur High Lower Field and Groote Schuur Primary School.
A dedicated drop-off and collection point has been identified on the Corner of Palmyra and Campground Roads (just past the Groote Schuur High School field).
Fans, residents and motorists are reminded that Campground Road will be closed from the corner of Campground and Mariendahl Roads to Palmyra Road from 12:00 until 23:00.
Motorists are also advised that there will be no stopping on the following roads:
- Mariendahl Avenue at Subway
- Mariendahl Avenue to Kinkel Way
- Palmary Road between Mona Crescent and Mariendahl Avenue
- Campground Road
- Kinkel Way
- Mona Crescent
- Lettersted Road to Main Road (North Bound)
- Letterstedt Road to Boundary Road (South Bound)
- Main Road between San Sui Street and Boundary Road (North Bound)
- Main Road between Boundary Road and Letterstedt Road (South Bound)
- Main Road from Glenhof to Spring Water Drive Way (North Bound)
- Palmyra Road in front of Groote Schuur High (Embayment)
The two teams will return to Cape Town again in the New Year for the traditional New Year’s Test at Newlands from 3 January 2025.
