JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa is keeping close tabs on the situation in Mozambique ahead of Monday’s announcement of the country’s October presidential election results.
The Mozambican Constitutional Council was forced to step in to undertake processes of verification after allegations surfaced of possible voter rigging.
On Wednesday, a South African delegation of Ministers, including Defence, International Relations and Transport met with their Mozambican counterparts in Mpumalanga.

Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) Minister, Ronald Lamola, said the President would be keeping a close eye as things unfold in the coming days.
"His Excellency President Cyril Rampahosa is in engagement and consultation with the current president of Mozambique, President [Filipe] Nyusi on the situation."
Lamola says for now all they can do is appeal to the citizens of Mozambique to refrain from violence.
"All other processes will have to await the outcome of the constitutional council if there are any announcements that have to be made."
