CT police arrest man, seize 6 guns in Philippi East

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape police say they've made headway in curbing the proliferation of firearms and extortion in the province with the arrest of a 48-year-old man and the seizure of six guns in Philippi East.
Police spokesperson, FC van Wyk, said that officers on patrol gave chase after spotting the suspect running into a shack in Marikana on Monday night.
"The members followed the suspect, who ran into a shack. They approached tactically and ensued with a search of the premises, upon which they discovered six firearms and one PAK replica firearm."
Van Wyk said that officers also confiscated an R1 rifle, D4 rifle, a Beretta pistol, two 9mm pistols, a Llama pistol and a variety of ammunition.
The suspect is due in court once he's been charged.
