JOHANNESBURG - As Johannesburg Water systems recover from Rand Water’s 86-hour maintenance project, concerns have been raised that the most vulnerable residents still don't have water.
A community leader in Claremont, Johannesburg, says taps at old-age homes are dry, and there are no water tankers to supply the precious resource.

Claremont is one of the areas that was severely affected by the maintenance of the Zwartkoppies and Eikenhof pump stations
Rand Water has urged residents to be patient while systems recover from the maintenance work.
"How can we expect old people to go to River Lea or to Danny Vanzyl, which also has a Jojo tank, and fill up the buckets? How do people expect them to walk all the way back with their buckets and bottles? These people are old. We can’t be doing that to our elderly; it’s completely wrong," said Claremont community leader Bianca Oliver.
