A suspected hijacker has died in a shootout with police in Delft, Cape Town.

CAPE TOWN - A suspected hijacker has died in a shootout with police in Delft, Cape Town.
When officers responded to Monday's carjacking in Macassar, they spotted the alleged assailant in the vehicle.
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, said that the suspect crashed the vehicle after a car chase.
Van Wyk added that while attempting to flee on foot, the suspect pointed a weapon at officers, who returned fire.
"The suspect attempted to flee the scene and pointed the members with a .38 special revolver and the members reacted and shot the suspect. He died due to injuries sustained on the scene."
