DURBAN - The Inanda police station in the north of Durban continues to top the list when it comes to reported sexual offences cases.
Though there's been a decrease by 52 cases this time, government said that this remains a worry, especially as the Inanda area has previously topped the national list as a rape capital more than once.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli read out the statistics in the presence of police top brass on Tuesday morning.
"A total of 1,539 arrests were executed for sexual offences during the mentioned period. Most of the rape cases are still being committed at the residence of either the victim, perpetrator, family, or friend."
He said that the following police stations contributed the highest numbers in this regard.
"Inanda, uMlazi, Plessislear, Mountain Rise, Empangeni and Verulam."
