CAPE TOWN - Hawks officials have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a Cape Town police officer.
Thirty-four-year-old Sive Sigobo was nabbed, for a second time, on Monday.
The deceased was shot in Philippi in June 2022 and his service pistol was stolen.
Two suspects, Sigobo and Xolisa Lufutha, were previously charged and the matter was transferred to the Western Cape High Court.
However, it had been struck off the court roll due to an administration issue and both the accused were released.
Hawks spokesperson, Siyabulela Vukubi, said that warrants were then obtained for them to be re-arrested.
"Lufutha was arrested during May 2024 and has since been released on bail. The matter was remanded to 11 February 2025 for trial in the Khayelitsha Priority Court. Information was received about the whereabouts of the outstanding accused and was subsequently arrested. Sigobo will make his appearance at the Athlone Magistrates Court on 17 December 2024."
