JOHANNESBURG - Substitute Ranga Chivaviro salvaged a point through an added-time goal on Monday as Kaizer Chiefs' disappointing South African Premiership season continued with a 1-1 draw at TS Galaxy.
Chiefs, winners of a record 53 domestic trophies, but none since 2015, hired Tunisian coach Noureddine Nabi in the hope that he could execute a turnaround.
Nabi came to South Africa after successful spells with Young Africans in Tanzania and FAR Rabat in Morocco.
But the Johannesburg club have won only three of nine league matches and lie ninth, nine points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.
Trailing from the 35th minute in Mbombela, when Samukelo Kabini nodded Galaxy in front, Chiefs applied intense pressure in the closing stages and it paid off on 96 minutes.
Ivorian goalkeeper Ira Tape failed to grasp a corner and Chivaviro reacted quickest to push the ball over the goalline.
The match, played at a surprisingly high tempo given the 35 Celsius (95 Fahrenheit) heat in the north east city, was constantly interrupted by injuries, including two to Tape in added time.
Galaxy rose two places to 11th under Serbian coach Adnan Beganovic, who was promoted last month when German Sead Ramovic quit South Africa to join Young Africans.
