JOHANNESBURG - Operations are running smoothly at the Lebombo border post between South Africa and Mozambique.
This follows a recent closure, which saw 20-km-long snaking queues from the gate along the N4 roadway.
Last week, authorities closed the port due to the resurgence of post-election violence in the neighbouring country.
The Border Management Authority's Mmemme Mogotsi said since reopening, officials have managed to clear the backlog.

She said more than 50,000 travellers have passed through the port over the weekend.
"The processing of cargo on both arrival and departure continues as normal, with efficient facilitation ensuring seamless movement of gods. Similarly, traveller movement in both directions reflecting the authority's preparedness for the busy holiday season," Mogotsi said.
