CAPE TOWN - The Elsies River Community Policing Forum(CPF) has assured the public it has not been dissolved.
This follows the findings of a Western Cape Provincial Dispute Resolution Committee probe recommending that the CPF be dissolved.
The probe was initiated after allegations of dereliction of duty and misconduct within the forum.
It comes amid ongoing gang violence in the area, including the recent murder of 14-year-old Grantham Jahmiel van Reenen who was killed in the crossfire.
CPF spokesperson Imraahn Mukaddam says the committee's findings are based on false evidence.
"These actions are politically inspired in order to influence the elective annual general meeting that was supposed to be held on the 12th of December. We were informed three days before the AGM that we are about to be dissolved. This makes absolutely no sense."
