Meanwhile, some communities in Soweto were still waiting for their water tanks to be filled on Sunday afternoon.
Joburg Water placed water tanks in 38 areas across Soweto, with Senaone being one of them.
However, residents of Senaone said their tank had been empty since Sunday morning and no water tanker had arrived yet.
One resident told Eyewitness News that they’d seen water tankers heading to neighbouring townships such as Chiawelo instead.
“In Senaone, they said the truck was going to come it didn’t come instead it went to the side of Chiawelo. Obviously, there’s no way that people from Senaone, Dhlamini came walk all the way from their areas all the way to Chiawelo with buckets of water.
“By the time they get there, they will find the water tank empty. Obviously, there’s no way that people from Senaone, Dhlamini can walk all the way from their areas all the way to Chiawelo with buckets of water. By the time they get there, they will find the water tank empty.”
