CAPE TOWN - South Africans should brace themselves for a cold front expected to make landfall on Sunday.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level two warning for severe thunderstorms for parts of the North West, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.

Forecaster Samkelisiwe Thwala said the cold front would also bring rough seas to the south and west coasts of the country.

"Strong damaging winds over the interior can be expected for most parts of the central interior of the country."
