JOHANNESBURG – The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) have duly elected their top leadership for the next five years.

It had been written on the wall that the party’s President Julius Malema would call the shots, again after the party’s formation 11 years ago.

The Institute of Election Management Services' chairperson - Terry Tselane - officiated the party’s bigwig nominations on Saturday night, the second day of the party’s National People’s Assembly.

Top six names:

1. President - Julius Malema

2. Deputy President - Godrich Gardee

3. National chairperson - Nontando Nolutshungu

4. Treasurer General - Omphile Maotwe

5. Secretary-General - Marshall Dlamini

6. Deputy Secretary General - Leigh-Ann Mathys

Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi deemed the nomination process just.

“I hereby declare the procedures followed are free and fair. The election of national office bearers complies with the EFF’s constitution,” he mouthed.

Of the 66 members of the party’s highest decision-making body, the central command team (CCT), the red berets say 50% should comprise women.

This picture has had eyes peeled to observe who would occupy the former EFF Deputy President Floyd Shivambu’s seat – who abandoned the EFF for the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.

At the same time, the EFF’s national spokesperson Mbuyiseni Ndlozi’s face was unseen at the NPA – raising questions about the internal red berets’ rapport.

Malema quashed questions about Ndlozi’s absence, suggesting the NPA would not be reduced to one individual.

Voting delegates' stamp of approval has thundered down to hoist the EFF’s top sextuplets.
