The collaborative effort signalled the start of a joint operation to keep the Mother City safe this festive season.
Hill-Lewis said the deployment was the city's biggest deployment ever.
"All of these officers will be deployed across the city at our most popular beaches, mountain and hiking routes, tourist hotspots, CBDs, roadblocks, community swimming pools, and crime hotspots."
The cadets will join more than 4,000 more experienced officers who will be assisting SAPS this festive season.
