Sweltering heat and dry taps for Joburg residents this long weekend

JOHANNESBURG - As Joburg residents battle scorching weather, Rand Water is reminding them of a looming shutdown for 86 hours.
Joburgers will have to contend with dry taps from Friday until Monday next week while the water utility does maintenance work on infrastructure.

The Eikenhof and Zwartkopjes pump stations will undergo repairs, affecting areas including Randburg, Soweto and Roodepoort.
"The system will be supplying normally for the first 24 hours and then thereafter there will be a combination of low pressure and no water," said Johannesburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Tshabalala.
