Gauteng Health Dept to unveil state of readiness for festive season

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng Department of Health is unveiling its state of readiness plans for the festive season on Wednesday.
The update looks to focus on how the department plans to respond to high volumes of emergencies during this time.
Health and Wellness MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will give the update under the theme, "Beyond the Call of Duty - Responding to Emergencies, Preserving Lives."

"We know during this period, as people are commuting from one area to another, and as people are having celebratory activities in their homes, accidents do happen. As such, the department has to be ready to respond to those emergencies," said Gauteng health spokesperson, Motalatale Modiba.
Nkomo-Ralehoko is set to unpack the department’s operational and resource preparedness, including staffing arrangements in health facilities, while also looking at emergency response and trauma unit capabilities.
