JOHANNESBURG - The Lebombo border in Mpumalanga has been temporarily closed due to ongoing unrest on the Mozambican side.
The Border Management Authority (BMA) has advised motorists to use the Mananga border as an alternative.
Protests against the October elections have intensified in Mozambique following the highly contested polls.

BMA's Jane Thupana said plans were being put in place to find other routes for cargo trucks.
"This option, however, is currently not feasible for cargo trucks due to similar demonstrations targeting commercial goods at Boane on the Mozambican side which would result in trucks being stranded on the alternative route. Discussions are being held with various trade associations and stakeholders regarding contingency plans which will be communicated to clients.”
