JOHANNESBURG - Former President Thabo Mbeki said that the country is in crisis mode and is urging South Africans to speak out.
Mbeki said that the African National Congress (ANC) is also in a crisis after losing over 30 percent of its support in 20 years and losing its parliamentary majority.
Mbeki was addressing the ANC Dullah Omar region’s political outreach programme in Cape Town on challenges facing the party.
He said that a national dialogue would allow South Africans to make their voices heard.
"The reason comrades we raise this matter about the national dialogue. We're saying the country is in real crisis and it’s about time that the ordinary people of our country speak out. Let the people speak and say this is the South Africa we want."
