JOHANNESBURG - Airline passengers flying from OR Tambo International Airport experienced heavy delays on Monday as a result of a plane refueling challenge.
Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) said planes had to be grounded due to technical problems.
The delays come on the back of the South African Airway (SAA) pilot strike that frustrated passengers' travelling plans last week.

ACSA said it was forced to ground its planes earlier after a shaft valve supplying fuel was broken, rendering aircraft unable to fill up.
"One line that serves our aprons what we're doing now we are using tankers which is also another manual process to at least go and fill up aircraft that we can fill up, particularly the narrow aircraft they can take off and go fill up at other airports," said ACSA regional general manager, Jabulani Khambule.
