JOHANNESBURG - At least 41% of women in South Africa have experienced Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
This is according to the Minister of Women, Youth and Persons With Disabilities, Sindisiwe Chikunga.
Speaking at a march against GBV in Durban the Minister bemoaned how many women don't report their abusers for fear of being stigmatised or worse.
This Tuesday marks the end of the government's 16 days of activism for the No Violence Against Women and Children campaign.
Chikunga says women have to be protected at all costs.
"What we are saying is that women are the foundation, they are the blood of South Africans they are the ones that carry our culture they are the ones that create our families and it is them that create our nation."[
