DURBAN - The case of five men linked to the extortion of workers in Umzinto, in the Kwazulu-Natal South Coast, has been postponed to the 17th of December.
The State in the case said that it needed more time to investigate further.
The group was arrested for intimidating construction workers at their workplace, demanding a meeting with the contractor.
Police say the group was caught in the act of intimidating workers on Thursday.
The five men - who cannot be named yet as the State still needs to verify their identity - appeared briefly in the Vulamehlo Magistrates Court on Thursday.
They are charged with extortion and intimidating construction workers who are renovating a local skills centre.
Police say this is not the first time the group has done this to the workers.
During the court proceedings, the State said it still needed to verify home addresses and check if the suspects had previous convictions.
The State also indicated that additional charges may be added as investigations continue.
