JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) chairperson in Gauteng, Panyaza Lesufi, has congratulated the party's structure in Thabazimbi, Limpopo, for receiving the highest number of votes in the recent by-elections.
The ANC secured 39% of the vote, coming in first, but fell short of securing an outright majority.

As a result, a coalition government will need to be formed, with a new administration expected to be in place by Monday.
Lesufi emphasised that while the ANC in Thabazimbi did not win an outright majority, it was still a victory for the party.
“Against the doomsayers, out of the 11 seats that we had we managed to retain 10 seats. Hopefully, with the assistance of other political parties, we can establish a government. This is a very important history for us.”
