CAPE TOWN - Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says a signed service-level agreement with the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) will lay the foundation for future rail devolution in the metro.
Following months of negotiations, the mayor said PRASA delivered the signed service level plan to the city on Wednesday night.

Hill-Lewis said following council’s approval of a rail feasibility study on Thursday, the city will produce detailed business plans by mid-2025 to take over passenger rail in Cape Town.
"We will be able to exercise oversight over their annual performance and their commitment to revitalise stations, introduce more train sets, recommission service lines and improve the number of daily passengers and train trips."
