JOHANNESBURG - The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Advocate Sibongile Mzinyathi, has expressed satisfaction with the current pace of the Senzo Meyiwa trial.
It's been a decade since the soccer star was murdered at the family home of his then-girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg.

However, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has not secured a conviction in the case, as the trial is still ongoing.
Despite this, Mzinyathi said the evidence is nearing its end on the part of the State.
On Thursday, he briefed the media on the progress made in the Pretoria division.
“It is a long time on the roll but the advantage with the case now is that the case is on the running roll. It is not going to stop until it is finished. It is not going to be postponed for another term.
“It is by a judge brought back specifically for the case and I’m assured now that it is nearing, at least as far as the state evidence is concerned, the stage where the state is going to close, so I am happy with the pace of that case. It has taken too long.”
