JOHANNESBURG - A suspected drug trafficker from Brazil is expected to appear in court after being arrested at OR Tambo International Airport.
It's understood the man was immediately captured by the police's crime intelligence after landing at the airport on Tuesday afternoon from São Paulo.
He was taken to hospital for a medical X-ray, which found cocaine bullets in his stomach.
Police said they are in the process of recovering the illicit drugs from the suspect's body.
"We can confirm that plastic-covered cocaine 'bullets' are being released by the suspect," said the police's Athlenda Mathe.
"He will appear before the Kempton Park Magistrates Court on a charge of drug possession and trafficking before the end of this week."
