JOHANNESBURG - Protesting residents in Protea Glen, Soweto, say their area has a longstanding issue of low water pressure.
The residents barricaded roads on Wednesday morning due to a week-long water outage.
The area is serviced by the Doornkop Reservoir, which was found to have three faulty valves that were later repaired.

Resident Yoli Mhlathi says the community usually contends with low water pressure but cannot stand a complete water outage.
"When it’s Saturday, Sunday if you wake up early around 6am you don’t have water, Sunday you don’t have water until 10pm in the evening. During the week if you wake up 5am you are late there’s no water so we’ve got people who go to work, school children."
