JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has presented a detailed report to the party’s national leadership, explaining how it lost its electoral majority in the province.
Members of the ANC’s provincial executive committee (PEC) in KZN met with its national working committee in Boksburg on Monday, trying to lobby against its possible disbandment.
The party is unhappy with its electoral performance in the province, after receiving just 17% of the vote during the 29 May elections.

The ANC in KZN was engaged in what has been described as a robust meeting with the national working committee (NWC), as the party’s future in the province hangs in the balance amid discussions of potential disbandment.
The party's challenges in KZN were thoroughly assessed, with Mbalula saying they now had a clear understanding of where things went wrong.
Mbalula emphasised that regardless of the decision regarding the future of its leadership in KZN, the party must take collective responsibility for its failure to retain its majority in the province.
"We have lost significantly in KZN. What we have emphasised here is that there will be no blame game. We are all in the together."
Later in December, the ANC's national executive committee (NEC) is set to decide on the actions to be taken to rebuild and strengthen the party in KwaZulu-Natal.
