JOHANNESBURG - Mzansi Ballet spreads the love of ballet to different townships in Gauteng.
The company was founded by Dirk Badenhorst in 2017. It infuses different genres of dance into ballet to represent South Africa’s dance heritage.
“So, we basically train all the kids in the township that do not have any possibility to come to the theatre or to the class. We go there and teach them. We try to find new dancers from South Africa," said Javier Monier Junior, a dancer from Mzansi Ballet.
Kiana Rose, another dancer, says the organisation is for the nation and it is about including everyone and breaking stereotypes and barriers surrounding the dance genre.
