Murder and rape-accused Pethe Sara Simiao abandons bail application

JOHANNESBURG - Murder and rape-accused Pethe Sara Simiao has abandoned his bail bid.
Sara Simiao was arrested in October, after six-year-old Amantle Samane’s body was found in his shack in Orlando, Soweto.
The 24-year-old made his third appearance at the Protea Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.
He has yet to plead to the charges against him.
Although the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) was ready to oppose his bail application, Simiao abandoned his bid.

The NPA has welcomed this, saying that he is a flight risk, with no fixed address, and entered the country illegally.
Magistrate David Mahago said the matter was adjourned until 27 January.
