JOHANNESBURG - Motorists will have to dig deeper into their pockets this festive season to pay for fuel.
From Wednesday, both grades of petrol are set to increase by 17 cents per litre, while diesel is set to go up by 54 cents per litre.
The Energy Department said several factors had contributed to the December fuel price hikes.
These include fluctuations in international product prices and the decrease of the rand against the US Dollar.
Energy Department spokesperson Robert Maake explained: “Illuminating paraffin at wholesale level will increase by 48.88 cents per litre and the single maximum national retail price of paraffin will increase by 66 cents per litre. The maximum price for LP gas will increase by R1.72 cents per kilogram.”
