JOHANNESBURG - Extended prepaid meter deadline looms for Eskom customers.
The initial deadline to upgrade your electricity prepaid meter from KRN 1 to KRN 2 was Sunday, 24 November.
However, Eskom extended the deadline following significant traffic and disruptions.
The entity has granted an extension to "zero buyers" - customers who use Eskom's electricity without making payments to legitimate channels - to Friday 13 December 2024.
Approximately 1.7 million zero buyers are still to complete the process countrywide.
Eskom spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said they would continue to assist customers in updating their meters.
“In the past few days since Monday 25 November, many customers, primarily zero buyers have been visiting our offices across the country for assistance. We are now seeing shorter queues and in some areas no queues at all as we assist customers.”
