JOHANNESBURG - With some senior African National Congress (ANC) leaders said to be secretly working for the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, the ANC says those who want to leave the organisation are more than welcome.

The ANC’s leadership in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) is reporting to the National Working Committee (NWC) on the province’s dismal electoral performance at the 29 May polls.

Several within the ANC have linked its electoral decline in KZN to several issues including members who’ve been doubling for the MK Party.

Speaking on the sidelines of the NWC meeting in Boksburg, ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said those secretly doubling for the MK Party can resign from the ANC.

“We have been made to believe that we are having people who are said to be working for the MK Party. We are not in the business of pounding people and second-guessing our own leaders and members. We believe that those who don’t find pleasure in the ANC anymore are free to go to whichever party. Fought for this democracy, we can't be the ones that are subverting it in any way.”
