JOHANNESBURG - The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party said it was still vetting people to fill its ten vacant seats in Parliament.
The MK Party has an allocated 58 seats in the National Assembly, however, it only has 48 members of Parliament that have been sworn in.
The organisation held a rally on Saturday at the Vosloorus Stadium in Ekurhuleni to celebrate its one-year anniversary since it was formed.
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party took an unusual step of having temporary members of Parliament sworn in.
The party has since recalled the temporary MPs and replaced some of them.
Speaking on the sidelines of Saturday’s rally, the party’s parliamentary chief whip, Mzwanele Manyi, said the organisation prided itself on being represented by highly-qualified people.
"You must remember, when you are in Parliament, it’s not enough to have been a campaigner on the ground, you got to have the capacity to go through policies, analyse and present a story in a public space in a manner that inspires confidence."
Manyi has not ruled out new members joining the MK Party and being deployed to Parliament.
