JOHANNESBURG - Former African National Congress (ANC) president, Jacob Zuma, is considering approaching the party’s national elective conference in a last-ditch bid to overturn his expulsion.
Zuma was expelled from the ANC earlier in 2024 for bringing the organisation into disrepute by forming and campaigning for another political party.
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party leader had his subsequent appeal rejected by the ANC’s national disciplinary committee.

The ANC said there were no other avenues for Zuma to appeal his expulsion.
However, the spokesperson for the Jacob Zuma Foundation, Mzwanele Manyi, said there was one more avenue Zuma could exhaust.
"The question is, is the NDCA [National Disciplinary Committee of Appeal] the final structure, the appeal structure, the final structure in the ANC? The answer is no because you still have the conference of the ANC, which is the final decision-making structure of the ANC. All other structures are decision-makers in between conferences, so President Zuma is consulting his comrades within the ANC."
The ANC’s next elective conference is due to be held in 2027.
