JOHANNESBURG - Some uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party supporters said that the party would eventually grow to be bigger than the African National Congress (ANC).

The MK Party is a breakaway organisation from the ANC, formed by former President Jacob Zuma.

On Saturday, the party held a celebration rally at the Vosloorus Stadium ahead of its one-year anniversary on 15 December.

In just its first general elections, the MK Party managed to gather the third most votes in the country.

MK Party supporter, Ronald Mabuza, said that frustration with the ANC government led him towards the organisation.

"It’s clear to see people love the MK Party. The party fights for the black community. Our president, Msholozi, has always been at the forefront of fighting for black people."

Another supporter, Ayanda Vena, said the MK Party would replace the Government of National Unity (GNU).

"The ANC and its GNU must go. The MK Party is here, and it shall govern."

Zuma will give the keynote address on Saturday afternoon.
