CAPE TOWN - The family of a young boy who was allegedly murdered by his friend's father in Cape Town has said that they will fight until it gets justice for him.

The boy was allegedly raped and killed while at a sleepover at his friend's house in Peerless Park North in Kraaifontein in June last year.

It's believed that his son was sleeping on another bed inside the same bedroom.

A family friend of the deceased boy, Irene Meyer, said their fight for justice was not only for their little boy.

"But for the whole of South Africa's kids who are being raped and murdered every day to have justice. not only our kids, but everybody's kids should grow up being safe and secure in their own homes, in their own neighbourhoods, wherever they live they should be safe."

The recent crime statistics show that 315 children were killed between July and September this year.

That’s 22 more deaths compared to the same period last year.
