It has been two weeks since President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the rollout for the registration of spaza shops, with 200,000 already raided across the country and 1,000 shut down.

JOHANNESBURG - Spaza shop registrations in the City of Johannesburg are going smoothly.  

It has been two weeks since President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the rollout for the registration of spaza shops, with 200,000 already raided across the country and 1,000 shut down.

The City of Johannesburg has distributed 2,141 forms across its seven regions.  

“By the end of last week, there were over 2,100 forms that had been issued to spaza shop owners for them to be able to complete and return all the necessary attachments for the registrations to be completed,” said city spokesperson Nthatisi Modingoane.
