JOHANNESBURG - As water shortages continue in Gauteng, Joburg Water is expected to provide an update on the current State of water supply in the city.

Residents in parts of the metro have recently faced dry taps, while others have reported low water pressure.

Earlier this month, the Gauteng government cautioned that if the situation does not improve, residents may face dry taps throughout the festive season.

Gauteng's water crisis has been escalated to the national Department of Water and Sanitation, as political leaders work to prevent taps from running dry.

Leaks and rising water consumption are major contributing factors to the ongoing shortages.

During Thursday’s scheduled media briefing, Johannesburg Water is set to discuss its plans to prevent the situation from worsening.

The utility also said there had been new developments in recent days, which it would reveal during the briefing.
