JOHANNESBURG - Residents of Westbury say they have no choice but to protest over water shortages in their community.
They took to the streets on Wednesday, over recent supply shortages, which have lasted for almost a week.
Residents said that burning tyres was the only way to get Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero’s attention.
Westbury resident, Bianca Olivier, said their calls for help had fallen on deaf ears.
"We are lucky if we get water during the whole day. We will have water sometimes between you could say 22:00 at night till about 05:00 in the morning and then it switches off. Some people cannot stay up until that time or wake up at 02:00 in the morning just to see if there’s water."
