It is the end of an era as the beloved South African porridge Maltabella is pulled from the shelves after 50 years.
Speaking to TimesLIVE, PepsiCo sub-Saharan Africa spokesperson Deborah-Ann Sharwood confirmed the discontinuation.
“As part of the ongoing review of our product portfolio and in keeping with our vision of being the leading food and beverage business in South Africa, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue Bokomo Maltabella.”
Social media was immediately sent into shock as the news broke.
Many mourn their childhoods, having grown up with the beloved staple.
Them discontinuing Maltabella really hurt my feelings. 😞
