CAPE TOWN - Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube said that the 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) matric exams had been a success, with few irregularities.
Gwarube on Wednesday gave an update on the final exams, which saw just over 700,000 learners sitting down to write matric.
But she said this did not happen without any challenges, with hundreds of learners having to reschedule their exams due to flooding in provinces like the Eastern Cape.
"Despite some challenges, the overall administration of these exams has been successful, with minimal irregularities thanks to the collective efforts of dedicated educators, administrators and learners themselves."
She said the focus now shifted to the marking process, with the results expected on 13 January.
"While exam writing may be over, the task of marking, standardising and processing results lies ahead. It is crucial that we remain focused and committed to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of this process."
