JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) believes the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and Parliament have been protecting President Cyril Ramaphosa from accounting for his Phala Phala saga.
In October, the NPA declined to prosecute the president for failing to disclose the 2020 theft of millions in foreign currency at his Phala Phala farm.
Thousands of EFF supporters on Tuesday picketed outside the Constitutional Court, where the EFF wants to have Parliament’s handling of the Phala Phala matter declared unlawful.
EFF head of presidency, Vuyani Pambo, said that Ramaphosa was abusing his power to shield his alleged corruption.
"We’ve got a strong view that these institutions have been captured but it’s not only our view, it’s there and it's palpable for anyone to see. Anything that relates to Ramaphosa, from the bank statements of CR17, the courts have acted in the strange way."
