JOHANNESBURG - Teenage pregnancy has come under the spotlight as South Africa observes 16 Days of Activism for no Violence Against Women and Children.
Statistics show that 12% of all childbirths last year were of girls aged between 10 and 19.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile launched the campaign in Rustenburg on Monday.
He said that these were not just numbers.
"In numbers, we are talking about 102,648 girls. These are not just numbers. These are young girls who should be in school playing with their friends, dreaming about their futures and building their hopes."
