JOHANNESBURG - Eskom customers who have not used their prepaid meters for over six months still have a chance to update them or pay R12,000 to replace the devices.
Known as "zero buyers," these customers will benefit from a one-day extension for the upgrades with a deadline set for 8:30 pm on Monday.
Meanwhile, Eskom said it will not grant an extension to active who failed to meet Sunday's deadline.

Hundreds of customers, mostly in Soweto, who've been flagged for illegal connections have been told to pay penalties to avoid legal action.
This resident told EWN about his failed attempt to update his meter.
"They took my address and promised to send a technician to assist me. But it's not just me; several neighbours are facing the same issue. This is clearly corruption."
Eskom has maintained that no extensions will be given to regular users, although provisions were made for those who haven’t used their meters for over six months.
