Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) has announced the resumption of its direct flight service between Dar es Salaam and Johannesburg, starting on 30 November 2024.

This highly anticipated route will offer five weekly flights, connecting Julius Nyerere International Airport with OR Tambo International Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

According to Tungaraza, the decision to reinstate this direct service is driven by strong demand from travellers.

"Connecting flights to Joburg as a direct flight has become a demand so we have to quench that thirst and that's the basic reason we are back."

She explains that the airline is a fully government-owned carrier, operating extensively across domestic routes and internationally to several countries, including Zimbabwe, Zambia, Nairobi, and Uganda, as well as destinations like Dubai, China, and India.

As of November 2024, Air Tanzania services 25 destinations in nine countries from its hub in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
