190 cases of rape reported at schools across the country in Q2 - crime stats
Police released the second quarterly crime stats in Pretoria on Monday afternoon, revealing that 10,191 cases of rape were recorded throughout the country, down by 325 cases in the same period last year.

JOHANNESBURG - Almost 200 cases of rape were reported at schools across the country between July and September.
This included eight cases of rape at daycare centres.
Police released the second quarterly crime stats in Pretoria on Monday afternoon, revealing that 10,191 cases of rape were recorded throughout the country, down by 325 cases in the same period last year.

One hundred and ninety cases of rape were reported at various educational institutions, including daycare centres and special schools between July and September.

"We had 77 rapes that had taken place at school and 13 rapes as well. We had 15 rapes at tertiary institutions, eight at daycare centers and two at specialised schools," said SAPS’ crime registrar, General Norman Sekhukhune.
Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal were the provinces which recorded the highest cases of rapes at schools.
"Gauteng with 16 and KwaZulu-Natal with 13."
Inanda in KwaZulu-Natal recorded the most number of rape cases across the country.
